Hello everyone,
I wanted to bring attention to a special event that's taking place this week. The World Autism Awareness/Acceptance Week on-air special event is running from April 1st through the 7th. The primary callsign being used in the US is W2A, with dozens of other calls being used by volunteers around the world. Last year the event had operators in 31 countries using over two dozen callsigns.
The event is all bands, all modes. The event is doing modes that more of to chat with callers, but FT4/8 contacts are also being accepted this year as those help direct people to the various QRZ pages for the calls being used.
I'll be one of the operators for the event this week, and this one is a bit personal for me as well. For those who may not know, I was diagnosed with high-functioning autism about a year or so ago, with it being traced back to my school years with the learning disabilities I have. Ham radio has honestly been one of the best things for me when it comes to finding a sense of belonging and community.
If you hear W2A on the air, give them a call!
