As the approaching winter storm develops, our club will be prepared to support weather monitoring and emergency communications if conditions warrant.
Bill Gray, N3LJP, our Vice-President and Net Control Administrator, will activate SkyWarn operations if needed. In addition, the club will be running an informal “Snow Net” for the duration of the storm.
The Snow Net will be a casual, informal net, feel free to throw your call out throughout the storm, ragchew, and check in with other members. The goal is simply to keep in touch, share what you’re seeing locally, and look out for one another and ragchew.
If SkyWarn is activated, all operators are asked to give Net Control priority for SkyWarn traffic and announcements. Members are encouraged to monitor 146.520 MHz (simplex) for any potential calls for assistance. Operators with GMRS capability are also encouraged to monitor local GMRS repeaters as well.
Any members with SkyWarn credentials who would like to assist as Net Control Operators or help staff the Snow Net are asked to contact Bill Gray, N3LJP, directly by email at 1wg1@comcast.net to coordinate.
Please stay safe and warm during this snow storm.
