Some sad news from the amateur radio community - HamClock, the popular station utility that many of us have used over the years, has reached its end of life. According to an automatic email reply and a notice on the HamClock website, creator Elwood Downey WB0OEW passed away on January 29, 2026.
HamClock has been a great tool in many ham shacks, providing DX spots, propagation info, solar data, and a bunch of other useful features. The final release was version 4.22, and all HamClocks will stop working in June 2026.

The information is coming from automatic email replies and the HamClock website notice. The ham community has been talking about this on Reddit, Facebook groups, and various Discord servers.
The ham community is already working on solutions. KQ4SIZ has started developing a replacement called AaediHAM, building it from scratch using SDL3. You can check out the development on GitHub at https://github.com/Aaediwen/AaediHAM
If you're using HamClock now, it'll keep working until June. After that, we'll need to look at alternatives or see where the community replacement projects are at.
