ARRL Partners with America250 for the Nation's 250th Anniversary

ARRL has announced it's joining America250 as a Supporting Partner for the United States Semiquincentennial — the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

America250 is a nonpartisan organization established by Congress to lead the national commemoration throughout 2026. ARRL's role as a partner highlights amateur radio's long history of connecting people, supporting public service, and strengthening communities across the country. ARRL President Rick Roderick, K5UR, noted that amateur radio has been part of the American story since the earliest days of wireless, advancing the nation's communications through technical innovation, skilled operators, emergency readiness, and international goodwill.

As part of the celebration, ARRL is rolling out several initiatives for 2026:

Year of the Club — The ARRL Board has designated 2026 as the Year of the Club, spotlighting the role local clubs play in mentoring new operators, building community, and delivering public service. Icom America is the official sponsor.

America250 Worked All States — A year-long operating event challenging hams worldwide to make contact with all 50 US states. An achievement award will be available for those who complete it.

2026 ARRL Field Day (June 27–28) — This year's theme is "Amateur Radio: A National Resource," reinforcing ham radio's readiness to provide resilient communications while engaging the public through hands-on demos and outreach.

ARRL is also pushing STEM education efforts, working to bring amateur radio into classrooms through hands-on curricula and teacher training programs.
